Beneath the Yew Tree

You were, I was.
Here.
Beneath the yew tree.
As the stars watched us.
We came and went.
Again, and again.
To remember, to forget.
It feels cold without you here.
Besides me.
As I watch gentle lights dance before me.
Like a dream, a gentle dream.
You were, I was.
Here.
We came and went.
And time passed by.
The seasons changed.
As the yew tree still stands.
Everything changes.
Upon a bed of forget-me-nots.
The poppies grow as I dream.
And become a part of me.
A fragment, of myself.
The stars still shine.
Even long after their end.
As a ghost of a time forgotten.
A lost time.
You were, I was.
Here.
Beneath the yew tree.
As the stars watched us.
We came and went.
Again, and again.
To remember, to forget.
I watch gentle lights dance before me.
Like a dream, a half-forgotten memory.
You are gone.
Yet you are here.
As I lay upon the earth,
I become a bed of flowers.
To poppies I become.
As I dream.
To forget-me-nots I become.
As I remember you.
Beneath the yew tree.
I forever now stay.
As the stars watch.
You were, I was.
Here.
Beneath the yew,
Once again
