Fragments

As fragments of memory return to me,
Forgotten emotions flow into me.
Some I wish to forget,
Some I wish to remember.
Your smiling face and those I loved.
I wish to see.
Yet they have yet to return to me.
Those memories, those scattered fragments.
The pieces of myself, of who I was,
Of who I am.
I feel lost as I recall my feelings for you,
And my anger for what I cannot change.
It hurts, as I remember those times.
Those days I wish I could forget,
The ones I want to relive.
Yet, your smile.
Your gentle voice.
Chases away all my pain.
As fragments of memory return to me,
Forgotten emotions flow into me.
The sadness, anger, hate, and regret.
The joy, happiness, gratitude, and love.
Those pieces of myself,
The parts of me I forgot.
And your smiling face.
Though it hurts, I want to remember it.
Every moment, every precious second.
Of those I’ve lost and met.
And most of all,
Your smiling face.
As fragments of memory return to me,
Those memories, those scattered fragments.
Of you and me.
The pieces of ourselves.
The love I felt for you,
Once again burns within me.
Like a star through the darkness.
It guides me to you,
The one who I was searching for.
Within those fragments of memory.
